Beginner-Friendly Settings for Koala Sticker Paper

Laminating your stickers is a great way to make them water-resistant, scratch-resistant, and longer-lasting. If you’re using Koala sticker paper with Koala cold laminating sheets, the good news is: Cricut Maker 3 can cut them beautifully with the right setup.

This guide is perfect for beginners and will help you get clean kiss cuts and avoid common cutting problems.

What You’ll Need

Recommended Cricut Maker 4 Settings (Koala Materials)

Because the laminating sheet adds extra thickness, use these settings as your starting point:

  • Blade: Fine-Point Blade

  • Material Setting: Printable Vinyl or Sticker Paper – Glossy

  • Pressure:

Light Cardstock (for cutting through the backing paper) or Cardstock
  • Passes: 1

  • Cut Type: Kiss cut (cuts through the sticker + laminate, not the backing)

  • Mat: LightGrip (for easier removal) or StandardGrip

👉 Always do a small test cut first.
If the sticker doesn’t peel easily, increase pressure or add one more pass. If it cuts through the backing paper, lower the pressure slightly.

Important Tip: Fix Print Then Cut Reading Issues

Koala cold laminating sheets have a glossy surface, which can reflect light. This reflection may make it harder for Cricut’s Print Then Cut sensor to read the registration marks.

Easy Fix:
Before cutting, cover the printed registration marks with matte black lines, or do not laminate over the registration marks. You can do this by:

  • Placing matte black tape over the lines

  • Tracing over them with a matte black marker

  • Printing matte black overlays

This reduces glare and helps Cricut read the marks more accurately.

Beginner Tips for Best Results

  • Make sure the laminate is fully pressed down with no bubbles

  • Use good lighting, but avoid direct glare on the mat

  • Replace your blade if cuts start looking uneven

  • Store the Koala sticker paper flat to prevent curling

Final Thoughts

With Koala sticker paper and Koala laminating sheets, making professional-quality stickers is easy—even for beginners. Using the correct Cricut Maker 3 settings and reducing laminate glare will help you get smooth cuts, clean edges, and frustration-free results.
